Siri Audio problem

Avatar Roy Rainford
Asking Siri fails on my iMac. The response is, "Siri was unable to hear you". I have checked Sound prefs, microphone and volume controls. Ask Siri is enabled. Any suggestions? Using OS High Sierra.

When you say you've checked the microphone, do you mean you've checked that it's on or that it works because you can see the level meter going up and down in System Prefs as you speak? If you've checked in Sys prefs and can't make the sound meter move try:

1) Reset the SMC - Apple's Instructions
2) Reset the PRAM of NVRAM - Apple's Instructions

Oh, and no idea why this should work - check your speakers aren't muted!

The level meter moves when I speak to Siri and the speakers are on near full volume.

And resetting SMC & NVRAM didn't work?

As a last resort, might I suggest that you contact Apple Support, they may be able to talk you through a solution.

Success! After resetting NVRAM it works. Thanks Mick.
Thanks Drew, Apple Support would have been next!
