Authenticator Apps & eVisas

I am applying for an Australian Visa and after going through all the rigmarole it advises that I have to use an Authenticator app. I started to choose KeyPass but note that the free app restricts you to one device. I am applying on my computer but am not taking it to Australia.
I am not sure at what point I will need to use this Authenticator App, if it is just to make changes to the Visa that's good but if to show the Visa to an official using my phone then perhaps it will.
Has anyone any advice on KeyPass &/or eVisas, I've only had ones stamped or stapled to my passport pages?
