Alarm Clock - beware IOS 26.1

Avatar Rick Churchill
I was banging my phone the other morning trying to stop the alarm before I knocked it onto the floor. I quickly found that the latest upgrade required sliding a switch to turn off the alarm whereas before you could just tap the screen.
I am unable to find how to resort to the more sensible activation, something we have been able to do since the dawn of the alarm clock! Can anyone hold out a helping hand or must I download a third party app?

You're not the first I've seen complaining about this. I think there's a good chance that either it will be quietly changed back in 26.2/26.3 or boldly announced as a new feature come OS 27.

Glass still feels quite prototype-y at the moment, hopefully it will mature (apparently it it improved greatly during the Beta phase.

Last night at the Apple User Group AGM Trevor Craven gave me a solution to the alarm clock problem. In System Settings > Accessibility > Touch there is a switch to "Prefer Single-Touch Actions". With this on all sliding actions are converted to a single touch.

It is not quite as good as the old way as I am sure hitting the screen anywhere would turn off the alarm whereas now you have to touch the button at the bottom of the screen, however it is easier to perform when the phone is lying on the bedside table at eye level.

Thanks Trevor.
