David showed Apple’s movie promoting all the current AI features, for the latest Apple devices, including all Macs using Apple Silicon. But you don’t have to have the latest devices to use AI, and David showed some of the apps which can be downloaded from the App Store, including ChatGPT, which is the system incorporated into Apple Intelligence. David’s favourite is the Chinese app DeepSeek, but don’t ask it about Tiananmen Square! After the break, Mick showed us how to make use of the amazingly powerful app included as part of the Mac system, namely GarageBand. He demonstrated how, starting with a background track for the Righteous Brothers’ “You've Lost That Loving Feeling” and listening through headphones, he was able to record himself singing the lead voice. At points in the song, a chorus sings the word “ Babee,” and he had persuaded his wife to record three separate tracks where she just sang the word “ babee.” If he had used the same copy three times, it would not have had the multi voice required effect. He was then able to lay down another track for the backing voice — the overall result deserved that rapturous applause from a very appreciative audience. Mick encouraged us all to have a go.
