David ran through various features of Mac OS 15 Sequoia and IOS and iPad OS 18 with some useful contributions from others, particularly over the updated window tiling feature which it was pointed out seems not to function as expected in apps such as Music,Photos and others. The next development will be Apple Intelligence due to be available in these OS in December, but will only work on Mac and iPads with M chips and the latest iPhone 16s and iPhone 15 Pro.

Trevor Craven reported that if you have an iPad with poor battery life, a know problem, and it qualifies, Apple will replace the device with an identical model for circa £100. He also recommended an app Coconut Battery Coconut Battery for checking the condition of your battery. He has the app on his Mac and connects his iPad to the Mac to check it’s. Coconut Battery is also available on the App Store.

After the break Euan gave us a brief history of the Dorchester WAMUG/AugWessex user group as a celebration of twenty years. A card was circulated for signing in appreciation of Mark Ford’s contribution, sadly no longer able to attend meetings. David produced a decorated and illuminated fruit cake for the celebration and was delighted to take an empty cake plate home.

It was good to be able to use iPhone mirroring to check out the App Store for Coconut Battery.
