Beaminster — Sep 7th 2021

This was our first face-to-face meeting following the switch to virtual on-line meetings because of Covid. It was also the first in our new venue Yarn Barton. There were six attendees: three from Beaminster and three stalwarts of the club whose support and expertise is most helpful. Since this was a new beginning David P explored what members might want from the sessions and established that a balance of presentation on diverse topics plus time to address individual problems was right for our group plus it was suggested that if a presentation involved showing what might be done that members be given time then to do it themselves with support from existing members.
The topics covered included: Pages - when to use the word processing option and when and how to use the layout function plus how to use the Pen in Shapes to create your own bespoke shape into which a picture could be fitted; iPad - 'slide over' and 'side-by-side' and how to switch between open apps; what3words - what it is, why it is useful and how it can be used.
As we emerge from Covid, each at our own pace we need to take stock to ensure we provide the support members need in the form they feel is appropriate. Various suggestions were made to 'spread the word': members are encouraged to let any Apple-oriented friends know about the AUGWessex, David P to contact Yarn Barton to inform the local Dorset Digital Champion of our presence and consider contacting those who were 'regulars' as to their wishes regarding their interaction with the club.
