Mick presented Networking at home, starting with a diagram of how it works, the hub is at the centre where all internet signals come in from the server, the signals are then sent to all your computers by either Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

Using Wi-Fi, the signal is sent to your devices as they are requested, each device must use the Hub’s password and is given a unique number, connection by Ethernet is a direct signal to the unit it is connected and not subject to interference.

Mick explained that Wi-Fi signals can be affected by any walls in your property and how this can be overcome with the use of of Wi-Fi extenders and boosters.

A very interesting presentation that explained the working of home networking.

After the break there were a few questions regarding un-zipping photos and a scam that appears to say there is a problem with your internet, it’s a scam, so ignore it, don’t be fooled into giving away any of your details.

The meeting ended with Euan showing us a short movie of a keynote presentation showing that the Affinity application suite now work together in a seamless way.
