Salisbury — Jul 2nd 2008

This meeting brought our first year in Salisbury to a close. We were a little down on our average with just nine stalwarts making the effort. I say stalwarts as 3 of us had made 8 of the possible 11 meetings, 2 had made 9, 2 had been to 10 and one other person besides me had in fact made it to all 11 - so we have a "keen core"! Of course, our reduced numbers this time (our average over the year has been 14) could have been because we were competing with Andy Murray taking on the might of Spain!

We looked at two different ways of getting you Mac talking to the outside world. The first was using it to retrieve a route for walking or cycling from Google Maps and uploading it to a hand held GPS receiver for guidance and the second was how to use iSync to synchronise your calendar and address book with mobile phones other than the iPhone! Brian also gave us one of his popular tips on how to manipulate text in Pages - this time how to produce coloured text with a different colour outline.

At present we have no plans for an August meeting as the school will be closed but there were some suggestions that a two month wait may lead to withdrawal symptoms. There was also a request for next year to include some very basic sessions on how to use different features of the common applications - a "what do all those buttons do" type session. If that sounds the sort of thing that would interest you we'd be pleased if you joined us in September.
