Salisbury — Jun 4th 2008

A photography evening this month. Shane kicked off with an excellent presentation involving fairly simple, easy to achieve, very useful tips for Photoshop users. And none of us knew they were there - at least I didn't and judging by the mutterings from the audience, I wasn't alone!

Euan followed this with an explanation of colour theory and told us all about gamuts (I thought that was some kind of duck but apparently not!) He showed us the scope and range of different gamuts and explained that so far, digital still has not reached the capabilities of film. He then showed us what happens when a colour is outside the gamut in use and went on to explain about colour casts and how to remove them.

The meeting was rounded off by a double act - Annie & Barrie. Annie had put together a slide show using both iPhoto and Keynote and set it to music from iTunes. Did you know you can automatically adjust the length of the show to fit in with the chosen music? Saves playing with a calculator! Barry then showed us just how easy it is to convert this to play on any DVD player, not just the one in your Mac.

In an unashamed copy of the Bournemouth meeting, six of us adjourned to the local Italian restaurant for coffee, full meal or anything in between. We were there till late but even though one member insisted on clearing a large space on a busy table so he could get his laptop out, we weren't thrown out so I expect it'll be repeated next month. Why not join us?
