Fareham — May 12th 2018

In the first half of the meeting, David Moon talked us through some basic settings in iOS and also how they worked in MacOS.
He showed how to get rid of unwanted previous recipients that came up when entering email addresses. How we need to keep details up to date in Contacts, such as if we change addresses.
Why we didn't need to keep information in Accounts over all our devices when it could be accessed through iCloud.

How to use the phone on all devices and wifi calling which can be very useful in poor phone signal areas. How to use the Personal Hotspot setting, customising Control Centre, using Wallet and Apple Pay.

He gave a run through of what you can do in Notes and showed us the use of Apple Pencil.

After the break, we had a very lively Q&A session:-
Amongst a variety of subjects, there were questions on how to convert files from applications such as Open Office to be able to access them in OS.

How to get back to the Classic View in Mail.
Privacy settings when surfing the net.
Whether Firewalls were needed and Mick ran through the hardware and software Firewall differences.
How best to deal with junk emails so that Mail will learn to filter the junk ones and also touched on ISP's spam filtering.

All in all, a very varied and interesting meeting which seemed to have something for everyone.
