Fareham — Feb 10th 2018

There was a good turnout by 14 members at this meeting, and the topic this time was Keyboard Shortcuts.

Using an Apple bluetooth keyboard, John demonstrated how you could use shortcuts on an iPad as well as on a Mac, with both devices linked up to separate projectors. Most shortcuts worked in exactly the same way on both devices, but some required a slightly different procedure although they achieved the same result, however not all shortcuts are available yet on iOS. John gave out a list of some of the shortcuts that he finds most useful.

As a conclusion, you didn’t need to learn lots of shortcuts, but it could be worth learning those for repetitive tasks or ones you might use often. With iOS devices, keyboard shortcuts can be useful, however the main use for a bluetooth keyboard on iOS is more likely to be for text applications, such as notes, messaging or email.

Overall, it was an interesting presentation, with lots of questions and discussion, often veering off track!

The next meeting will be on Saturday 10th March, starting at 10.30am as usual.
We’ll be covering the new Apple format system (APFS).
