Dorchester — Sep 30th 2008

To start the season, we had two excellent presentations with a photographic theme. Euan introduced us to some of the mysteries of Colour on the Mac, and in Photoshop. When he finished, we had all taken on an understanding of RGB, CMYK, how to calibrate the monitor, and colour spaces, and also of some of the tools which Photoshop provides to enable colours to be balanced, enhanced, and transformed. After an interval in the Colliton Club's bar, the second presentation, by Lionel, introduced Photoshop Express. In contrast to Adobe Photoshop, and Photoshop Elements, this is a free on-line application to be found at www.photoshop.com/express . The application allows photos to be uploaded, edited using a set of simple tools, and then shared with others. Sharing can be set up at a variety of levels. The application comprises a rather specialist set of functions, but if this is what you want to do, then Photoshop Express clearly offers what appears to be a good way of doing it.
