Bournemouth — Dec 19th 2017

Bournemouth AUG December 2017
11 members assembled at our new venue, All Fired Up.

The main event was a presentation by Tony about his recent visit to a little-known Apple museum. Just to make sure we paid attention, a sheet of questions was handed out beforehand, with the promise that we would be marked afterwards.

The museum houses a private collection of all things Apple, covering the period 1976-2012, so we were taken on a journey right from the schematic of the Apple 1, designed by Steve Wozniak, through the advent of VisiCalc on the Apple 2, to the Mac, iMac, iPod and iPhone - plus a few detours along the way to some lesser-known Apple products.

When the quiz was marked, our Host Stuart was declared the winner and was duly awarded a chocolate tree-decoration and, somewhat ironically as a cafe owner, a sachet of sugar. Admittedly the latter did have the logo of the Apple museum on it.

After a coffee break we held the usual Q&A session. This time topics covered included an iMac that refused to wake up from sleep and then when re-started, opened up the Guest user account, an online magazine that disappeared when zoomed in on, and a question about sorting files in various views under High Sierra. The last of these resulted not only in solving the questioner’s problem but also most of the rest of us learning a thing or two about the viewing and sorting options available in the Finder.
