David came to us from Dorchester to present mark-up in Preview, starting with converting some documents to PDF and importing them into Preview by dragging the single pages together to make a single master document, Them selecting several paragraphs and adding notes to be sent to others for editing before returning, also adding a signature to a form and filling in a forms details. Importing a picture putting on a speech bubble and showing us the use of the magnifying glass for a closer look at some detail.
After a short break Mick presented an in depth look at the group’s new website showing the new lay-out and features, how to sign in and sign up, find and contact the local organisers, using the calendar and where to find how to get this into your own calendar. Where to find the local meetings venues, looking at the meeting reports and where you can make a comment and the discussions page where you can find help on almost anything or maybe help someone else.
Brian finished the session with some type tricks in Pages making use of the layers by arranging objects to be in front or behind each other, showing a short animation on how this works. Outlining text, kerning and letter spacing, getting the letting to runaround and odd shape graphic, showing the minimum text size 1pt and a large 1000pt letter (not sure the maximum size) the 1000pt letter fits an A4 page. Putting text and a picture inside a letter by drawing around the letter using the Draw with shape tool.
