Last evening there was a low turnout - was it the good weather that had kept people away we wonder? Euan came over from Dorchester and gave a comprehensive and well-pitched presentation on trouble-shooting for the Mac. He avoided specifics but gave good advice on how to approach problems (don’t try when you are tired or stressed) and of ways of finding out what might be causing the trouble (Activity Monitor isn’t so scary as it looks once you have an idea of what to look for) and of dealing with the problem - here he gave some general rather than specific guidance, particularly about ways of re-booting the Mac. This was followed by a very brief presentation from Michael who confessed that looking for items to trouble-shoot under iOS8 had been a problem because there weren’t that many to be found. A quick run through of these few - how to deal with slow running by increasing the amount of memory available( by closing open but unused apps) or clearing the history in Safari, or simply by re-booting. what to do if the iPad or iPhone won’t turn on (either re-boot or charge the battery!) and then some useful tips, for example how to take a photograph of the current screen on the iPad or iPhone, and the presentation was done. Coffee and conversation followed, as usual.
