Fareham — Oct 4th 2008

In between the Coffee & Doughnuts this month were Apple's iPhoto and an iPhone application developed by our chairman Martin. We even managed to squeeze in a bit of problem solving as well, so a particularly busy meeting for all those attending!

I started off the preceding with a presentation on iPhoto, how I organized my images and how I utilize key words in my filing system using Keyword Assistant (http://homepage.mac.com/kenferry/software.html). It should be noted that this is for iPhoto 6 and below only as version 8 has good keyword control!

We moved onto utilizing Kodaks plugin (http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=150) for iPhoto which enables you to upload images directly from iPhoto to Kodaks image gallery (http://www.kodakgallery.co.uk/). This enables you to have an online gallery and also to order prints up to poster size, which in the UK, is not available from Apples built in service (US Only!!).

We moved onto using Posterino (http://zykloid.com/posterino/) which enables you to put multiple pictures directly from iPhoto onto poster size paper and then I demonstrated how the same could be achieved utilizing Adobe Illustrator, the manual method which would be used by designers.

Coffee & Doughnuts followed before we moved onto Martin's iPhone application, which is designed for rating and storing restaurants and meals. Still in beta development, but extremely interesting! Martin is after beta testers so if you're interested drop him a line.

We finished the demonstrations with a look at iPhoto 8, given by Alan Lewer, looking at the improvements over version 6 which i had used.

The morning finished with general chat and problem solving before we all departed. Looking forward to the next meeting!
