Fareham — Jan 24th 2015

Seven members attended this first meeting of the year and John Hooper took over as organizer.

John gave us a talk with keynote illustrations about all the different ways to transfer files between Apple devices.
Airdrop was considered to be the easiest system to use and is already built into OSX Yosemite and iOS 8.
It is now compatible with both operating systems, unlike the previous versions.
The next best system was to email yourself with the attached file.

There was a return to the traditional break with Tea and Coffee available, and we hope to provide this from now on at each meeting.

In the second half of the meeting, various topics were discussed, including Mac related magazines and their articles.
Also the pros and cons of applications that can only be run online.
Word processing packages Libre office, Pages and Microsoft Office 2011.
Old DTP packages Quark Express and Page Maker.
Final Cut Pro and updates for Adobe Photoshop and Flash.

Finally, Derek demonstrated how he could use his iPhone on a 4G network to provide a WIFI hotspot for others to use.
This could provide a very good temporary link to the internet.

The next meeting will be on Saturday 21st February.
