Fareham — Feb 23rd 2013

This meeting was a triple header - first of all Mick Burrell introduced us to the differences
between POP and IMAP email accounts which seemed to clear up some mysteries for quite a few of those in attendance.

Next up was Derek with a review and demo of the Preview application, an often overlooked program with many features and capabilities. During the demo members identified that Apple had updated Preview in the latest version of OSX and were encouraged to to update to the latest version of OSX.

Features that were demoed included:

Using Preview to fill in PDF forms either into sensitised areas of the form or along horizontal lines defining data entry fields.

The use of bookmarks to enable quick access to key areas of PDF manuals.

Adding and removing annotations to PDF documents including creating and and stamping of signature images into PDF documents.

Working with photo images and conversion from RAW to other formats. Using any encoded GPS information in the image file to show the location of the photo on Google Maps.

As a bonus event, Jeanette demoed creating and working with web sites using Weebly.com. A most impressive process.

Remember the next meeting will be on the 23rd of March and not the last Saturday of March.

Next months topics to include a demo/talk on Time Machine.
