Bournemouth — Nov 20th 2012

The meeting opened with a short movie entitled "Togetherness" which showed how smart phones are replacing normal face to face social interactions.

The Q and A session was probably our most lengthy and varied to date with topics ranging from iPhone 3 data access when the password has been forgotten to using a MacBook Pro in Spain.

Eventually Mick was able to start his presentation on Passwords. This soon took us beyond the basics of using an administrator password and what constitutes a good password into the mystery of Keychain Access in Utilities. It was a relief to hear Mick say that it was usually best left alone to work in the background.
Questions, answers and comments flowed . The problem of remembering passwords was raised and "Passwords Plus" or "Pastor" were suggested by Mick as possible solutions (Passwords Plus and Pastor respectively. The presentation raised awareness of the importance of having good secure passwords and how to construct them.

Just before the break for refreshments Lionel announced that WAGs had purchased a slide scanner which would be available to members when the logistics had been worked out

After the break, Ben of Solutions passed round a new Mini iPad for our inspection. His main presentation was on the social networking websites of FaceBook and Twitter. He explained how these could be set up and used with 'live' on-screen demonstrations of both  (Facebook  and
Twitter).  There were many questions, comments and discussion with a suggestion that a WAGs Facebook page to publicise our meetings might be worth considering. Having overrun our allotted time we had to call a halt with many issues still hanging in the air.
