Fareham — Mar 31st 2012

Thirteen members attended the meeting which had a decidedly technical bent.

Martin Spencely reminded us of the early days of OSX by showing us a very early version of OSX in server form - he was running it on a G3 machine from his collection of Macs.
He demonstrated how the GUI has developed over time.
Martin also reminded us that OSX is a Unix variant and described the history and evolution of the operating system and how it has been used in many products.

Andy Banks then spoke on Terminal and showed how it can be used, he illustrated his talks with informative videos from Lynda.com.

Terminal is the OSX command line which because of the completeness of the OSX GUI we do not have to use too much.

In the April meet Martin Spencely will be returning to to talk to us about Writing Mac and IOS Software. It will be a high level talk on the basic concepts behind software development on the Mac for the non techie.
It will not be a course on programming.
