Bournemouth — May 17th 2011

There was the usual select gathering at the Solutions store in Bournemouth and in addition to the single item on the WAMUG mailing there were three other presentations offered.

Mick began the meeting by giving a presentation on how to ensure that you could send and receive e-mail while away from home using your laptop, iPad, iPhone or iPod touch.

Using a service such as Googlemail seemed to be the easiest though Mick also explained how you could use other methods too.

This was followed by Mark who gave a demonstration of the new iPad 2, showing its new facilities not least of which was the ability to mirror the display of the iPad on the projector screen. There followed a discussion about how the iPad versions of Mac applications e.g. Pages, Keynote etc. compared with each other and how the new version of iOS compares with Mac OSX.

Following this Gordon demonstrated a selection of books prepared on a Mac using iPhoto. The quality of the books is quite remarkable and the discussion continued by looking at other sites where it is possible to have photo books produced. This was just a quick look at the subject of photo book preparation and would justify a return with more time to develop it.

While speaking of time, we ran short of it by the end of the meeting and it was not possible to complete the demonstration of Front Row which will be held over to the next meeting.

Our thanks as always go to the staff of Solutions.inc who host our meetings so cheerfully and frequently contribute their own input.
