I'm pleased to report that we had a slightly higher attendance this month and it resulted in a very lively and hopefully informative meeting. We started off with the usual question-and-answer session and this did get slightly technical with a discussion on the use of IP addresses but I'm fairly sure that the people who were asking the questions went away happy and hopefully with a problem cured.

We then went on to have a look at how to make searches in Google more relevant. We looked at how to search for specific phrases, how to restrict our search to particular websites and even websites from specific countries and also how to exclude certain words from the search results.

Google also offers various other useful tools and we looked at using it to translate from or into a language other than English and then ended our quick tour with a look at Google Documents. This is a suite of programs similar to Microsoft Office or Open Office which work in your browser with the resulting files stored on Google's servers so that you can give friends or colleagues permission to access them either just for reading or for full collaboration.
