We started with a short movie by MacVince explaining Apple’s new Creator Suite, titled Apple's Weirdest Subcription Yet. The package, which covers Mac and iOS, comprises the familiar free Pages, Numbers, Keynote, and FreeForm (PNKF) on the one hand, and a bundle of “artistic” creator apps which, bought separately, add up to several hundred dollars.

On the Mac, you can retain the old versions of the PNKF, but they are automatically updated on iOS devices. The new version of PNKF offers AI and other “benefits” providing you sign up for the package at $12.99 per month, so very costly if these are the only apps in the package you will use. If you use the “artistic” apps, then it’s a good package.

Trevor then gave us a rundown on what the new versions of PNKF offer. On the Mac, you can retain the old apps, with the option to download the new versions if you wish. But opening the older versions, Apple warns that they will not be updated. Documents remain interchangeable between the old and new versions. Trevor showed how various actions, such as selecting new premium templates, pop up windows saying only available when paying the subscription with a free three-month trial; only one month free was proven on Apple’s website. However, he showed that using the View menus, you can customise the toolbar and remove redundant icons if not subscribing. Both Trevor and MacVince thought Apple had somehow forgotten to update FreeForm!

After the break, David showed the basics of using Pages for letter writing and other word processing and how it can also be used in Layout mode for making flyers, etc. Even without paying the subscription, Pages offers a number of templates for both types of documents.

After Q&A, David showed how to delete data from WhatsApp to release storage without losing chats, albeit minus media.
