Following on from last month’s talk about the amazing technology which makes the iPhone a top-rate camera, David P. showed us the controls for using iPhone cameras under iOS 26. Many features will be familiar, but Apple has made them more intuitive. Opening the camera, you are now just presented with Video and Photo. Sliding a finger to the right brings up various photo options, and sliding to the left brings up the Video option. In photo mode, holding down the shutter button will take a video. Tapping either the Video or Photo button brings up a further menu, making use of Apple’s Liquid Glass appearance. An important feature, which has been a feature for years, is the ability to tap on the area in the viewer that you want the picture to be focused, highlighted by a yellow rectangle to the right of which is a small sun icon which can be slid up and down to adjust the exposure.

David M. then gave a brief presentation on the Preview App, now included on iOS devices running OS 26. Some of the features were previously incorporated in the Files app. The two apps work closely together. As well as being able to change file formats , Preview has a very slick Remove Background feature.
