Another entertaining meeting! The two demonstrations went down well and once again provoked a lively question and answer session. Nobody had any burning issues to sort this time (are Macs really that reliable/easy to use?) so we had ample time to look at a new machine that Santa had brought one member.

In February, I'll get a night off! Oh, I'll be there trying to maintain order but I've had two volunteers… Read more…

Today turned out to be an excellent meeting despite there only being a dozen of us - at least, judging by the number of people who stopped on the way out to say what a good one it had been!

Lionel gave us a presentation on how to connect to a PC and I followed that with an explanation of how simple(!) it is to make your wireless network secure. Both presentations provoked lively… Read more…

With Christmas so near it was heartening to see a good turnout for this meeting. Having emphasised the importance of starting at the new time of 6.30 Michael Corgan and Lionel Ogden were still in a mile-long queue behind a couple of tractors at 6.20! Fortunately Mick Burrell was on hand and got the meeting started with the usual Q & A session. When Michael finally arrived, he went straight into a… Read more…

Another reasonable turn out, especially as it's December. We had a much more lively question and answer session this time and so were able to devote a little more time to that. It was good to see a few "new" people asking the questions and also more people being prepared to chip in with an answer. Don't forget, it's far easier to investigate and answer a query if we have your Mac there… Read more…

There’s never a dull moment at the Fareham meetings. Saturday mornings are never quite the same without meeting fellow Apple users over a cup of coffee and a fresh doughnut, discussing and chatting about our favorite computer company.

This Saturday was no different. Leopard was the hot topic kicking off the proceedings, those who had not yet made the leap learning about the experiences of those who could not wait! We had… Read more…

This was our last meeting before Christmas in Dorchester, and we also wanted to celebrate the arrival of the iPhone and iTouch.

We were able to prevail upon the kindness of our Dorchester O2 shop (7 South Street) to stay open between 6pm and 7pm leaving us just a short half hour to set up the Colliton Club meeting for 7.30.

The O2 iPhone and iTouch "pre-meeting"… Read more…

At the Bournemouth meeting on 20th November there were three good presentations - all by MUG members. The first was a very useful one even to experienced Mac users - Mick Burrell gave the reasons for making back-ups - with instructions on the best ways of doing them. He followed this with a brief demo on updating safely to Leopard.

Next was Euan Williams with his illustration (previously seen to better advantage at Lytchett, where… Read more…

Back to our normal numbers this month and good to see two new members amongst the regulars.

Thanks to Lionel who came in with a tip on how to print accented characters and also to WAMUG's double act - Mark & Euan who between them put the new spreadsheet Numbers through its paces by using the new version of Keynote. Rather than baffle us all with complex formulae, Euan (who now professes to be… Read more…

Three new members paying on the night on the strength of what went on - we must be getting something right!

We had two presentations which were linked and somewhat timely. With the launch of Leopard, it was very topical for people to have a talk on how to upgrade the operating system. Of course, part of this procedure is to make sure you have a good backup before you start so the first… Read more…

This has been one of our best meetings so far. Three new members turned up to bring attendance to 15 with one apology. At least three Macs had Leopard installed, and we kicked off reasonably promptly with Apple's movie tutorials about Leopard features. The silence that followed was a trifle worrying, but it seems that this was more due to a spasm of wonder than any disapproval.

David Moon followed this up with… Read more…
