Alan started the meeting by introducing our speaker, Mark Ford, as "one of the oldest old-timers we've got". You have to admire the charm of the man!

Mark gave us a presentation oF Comic Life, version 3, which is available for twenty one pounds from the App Store. Although intended for authoring comics, the app comes with lots of templates which can be used for other things such as how… Read more…

Last night the first WAMUG meeting of 2014 got off to a very good start thanks to a first-class presentation on the basics of iPhoto from our member David Parnell. David (who incidentally is also a member of Bridport Camera Club) gave a very clear and understandable description of the way in which iPhoto deals with your photographs, how to put hem into the application, how to classify and catalogue them, how to manipulate… Read more…

John opened the Christmas meeting with 21 members present.

Mick explained that David had taken over from Mark as the Dorchester organiser, and with it a Committee position. He presented a token of appreciation to Mark.

Graham then entertained us by giving the story of his time and travels, with attempts to record the latter with digital photos, transferred to movies. He has purchased a Multimedia Hard Drive to back these… Read more…

A good crowd of 14 gathered for the last Bournemouth meeting of the year, all eagerly anticipating Mick Burrell's talk on Mavericks. All except Mick that is. Apparently it had slipped his mind that he was the star turn and so didn't have his laptop with him. Fortunately Apple technology came to the rescue and Mick presented his i-Cloud hosted Keynote presentation using his iPhone.

After outlining the process of downloading and installing… Read more…

Last night's meeting at Beaminster was well attended - 16 people came to hear one of Mick Burrell's lucid and well thought-out presentations. He gave us a run through the method of installing Mavericks, the new, free upgrade to the Mac operating system, including a very handy hint for those of us with more than one machine. This was to make a copy the installer downloaded from the App Store web site before installing it… Read more…

We had a very full meeting this month - not the number of people attending, that was pretty normal, but the content. We started off with a Q&A session which brought up some unusual problems, one of which showed how the error message you get from your Mac, whilst always an indication that something's not right, doesn't always point you in the right direction for a solution! It also highlighted how difficult it is… Read more…

With 13 members present, Alan Cox opened by giving a short presentation on the results of his recent questionnaire survey to members that had attended Bournemouth meetings - 12 responded. The majority had more than one Apple device - 2 with 6 or more!! iMacs and iPads were the most popular devices and Mail and Safari the most popular of the Apple software applications. Several topics for future presentations were identified but more were always welcome.

There were 21 people at the meeting. Georgia's questionnaire had been completed by 17 members and David reported on the results. A pdf of the Keynote presentation that he used can be found here: with an analysis and interesting details of those subjects that we might cover in the future.
It can be summed up thus:
1) A clear need to understand the working of the Cloud emerged.
2) Anything on iPhoto &… Read more…
