Another good attendance with 15 members being subjected to photographs taken by Roy for possible use on this website. We soon got down to business with local member Trevor talking about his early experience with streaming music using Airport Express from his iMac. The iPod Touch and the Apple Remote App came next, followed by Airfoil to stream from the BBC iPlayer on a MacBook. However it was only with the advent of Airplay on… Read more…

We welcomed 25 members to this month's meeting, which must be at least approaching some sort of a record. One of the reasons for such a large turn out, despite the temptations of a fine Spring evening, was undoubtably the promise of Mick's presentation on the subject of iCloud.

We started, however, with a test of the improvements to the Colliton Club's Wi-Fi feed. This proved to be easier to use than… Read more…

10 Members attended the meeting on programing - following on from the last meeting where we heard about the evolution of MacOS and the use of Terminal
This month the meeting featured a talk by Martin Spencely dedicated to the basics of programing and various programming languages used in the creation of MacOS and IOS applications.

He started with the basic principles of what a program does in the computer and how that… Read more…

It's good to see attendances slowly creeping up so that even with two or three regulars missing, new members made sure we still maintained our usual numbers.

There were not many questions in the Q&A section this month so we were quickly on to Denis' presentation of Photoshop. Although he was using the beta version of Photoshop CS6, he pointed out that almost everything he showed us could be achieved in… Read more…

Fifteen attendees were welcomed by organiser Alan Cox who started the meeting on a lighthearted note by showing a short video clip on how not to use your iPad in the kitchen: iPad Video (Mick had put this on the WAGs Discussions section). The Q&A session centred around Apple Mail and how to have iPhone/iPad emails stored on desktop machines using settings in Rules in Mail Preferences.

The first presentation was… Read more…

John opened the meeting on a fine Spring evening, with 16 members present.

David told us about Dropbox, and explained its benefits, which are complementary to those of iCloud. In summary:
2GB free storage in Cloud. Can work on or offline. Provides safe backup. Can visit earlier versions of docs. Can share photos or documents with anyone else, sending them a link. Can also use Dropbox app on iPad / iPhone to store… Read more…

Thirteen members attended the meeting which had a decidedly technical bent.

Martin Spencely reminded us of the early days of OSX by showing us a very early version of OSX in server form - he was running it on a G3 machine from his collection of Macs.
He demonstrated how the GUI has developed over time.
Martin also reminded us that OSX is a Unix variant and described the history and evolution… Read more…

It was a fairly short presentation this month, looking at some of the simple but oft neglected features of iPhoto. We concentrated mainly on the search function particularly using keywords previously assigned to photographs. Most people had tried a simple search for photographs marked with a keyword but we discovered how to search for keyword one AND keyword two, keyword one AND NOT keyword two and finally keyword one OR keyword two. We then moved… Read more…

A well attended meeting which saw the end of Michael Corgan's reign as Organiser and the start for Alan Cox as his replacement. WAGs Chairman Mick Burrell thanked Michael for starting the Bournemouth group and running it so successfully for the past four years.

We started the meeting with the usual Q&A session which produced a helpful discussion on the partitioning of external drives, Time Machine back-up and aspects of emailing… Read more…

John opened the meeting with 18 members present.
We began with the raffle of a copy of the Steve Jobs biography, and Mark then explained the wonders of the WAMUG website to the uninitiated, including how to access the website, subscribe to the WAMUG calendar, and details of the content.

Following the previous talk on Garageband, a different John then introduced us to Garageband for iPad, which, although the iPad does not… Read more…
