Bournemouth — Dec 18th 2007

With Christmas so near it was heartening to see a good turnout for this meeting. Having emphasised the importance of starting at the new time of 6.30 Michael Corgan and Lionel Ogden were still in a mile-long queue behind a couple of tractors at 6.20! Fortunately Mick Burrell was on hand and got the meeting started with the usual Q & A session. When Michael finally arrived, he went straight into a showing - it could hardly be called a demonstration - of Comic Life, whch at least gave a rough idea of what can be done with this little program - and also, what can't be done!

Following on that came a quiz on all things Apple - and mostly on the Mac, which certainly strained the memories of the competing team members. This was courtesy of London Macintosh User Group, translated from a very large PDF to a Keynote presentation of the first 40 questions - we're saving the second 40 for next year!

Finally Mick Burrell gave one of his excellent Back-to-Basics presentations, showing how easy and straightforward it is to create printed address (or indeed any other kind) labels from Address Book - though why you would want to keep a list of jams and marmalades in that program is a bit of a mistery.

After the meeting finished several people adjourned to the welcoming Italian restaurant a couple of doors up for coffee, and for a meal for those in need. All in all a good end to the first session of Bournemouth Meetings.
