Salisbury — Feb 24th 2010

We started off the session with a look at just how easy it is to put together a presentation using Keynote. Whilst lots of its features are a bit "flash" there's plenty of variety to enable you to tailor your presentation to your audience. The session was so successful, I was inundated with volunteers to put something together for future meetings.

Lionel then stepped up and took us through brief demos of two utilities he's found useful - Snaggit, a screen grab utility that goes further than Grab and then Jing which will record your screen actions so you could actually give a presentation as a working video.

We didn't have the correct adaptor to allow Doug to plug into the projector so we crowded round his laptop while he showed us a small plug in for Preview which allows a multi-page pdf file to be printed as a booklet.

All of the above easily fitted in the first hour so the rest of the time was spent in small groups discussing applications and issues like "what can go wrong when I upgrade to Snow Leopard" and rehearsing your Keynote presentation using the presenter screen while there was no projector attached. Of course there was also the occasional trip to the bar! We made the most of this session as March has five Tuesdays so the last falls five weeks away on 31st.
