      <xhtml:div xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">iCloud seems to keep my contacts in sync apart from three Smart Groups I have created.  It synchronises the ordinary groups.  Is there some setting I need to choose or just accept that my smart groups will not be synchronised?</xhtml:div>

      <xhtml:div xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">There doesn't seem to be. This is irritated me for a while now particularly when I want to email all the folk in one of my Smart Groups from my iPad - just can't do it!</xhtml:div>

      <xhtml:div xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">I wonder if you could export a smart group as v cards  and the copy those to your iPad, as a supplement to iCloud sync?</xhtml:div>

      <xhtml:div xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">Mobile devices don't have the facility of Smart Groups so I expect that's why they don't sync. However, Lionel, are you saying they don't since from iMac to MacBook?</xhtml:div>

      <xhtml:div xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">I cannot tell whether iCloud syncs to my Macbook because before I signed up to iCloud I had copied an archive of my address book on the iMac to my Macbook which included smart groups and everything else as far as I can tell.  However on the iCloud site Smart groups are not shown in Contacts so I suppose they do not sync them between desktop and laptop.</xhtml:div>

      <xhtml:div xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">I think this will be because Smart Groups are a setting in the Address Book software running on each individual machine. That setting acts on the data and iCloud only syncs the data not the program settings.</xhtml:div>

      <xhtml:div xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">heard a rumour that this is fixed once you have mountain lion- IOS 6 and an upcoming version hike for all things iCloud, but its only a rumour. personally I won't hold my breath, but it is annoying I grant you.</xhtml:div>
