But in fact she had started to do an update, and pulled the power plug out, and the update didn't finish properly, so when I launched her iPhoto, it quit unexpectedly with a very ugly list of fails. I knew that the last thing software update does is write out a file with the last version and a code, so if you remove that line in the log, software update will re-force an update.
