Go to System Preferences, Sharing and make sure that File Sharing is unchecked. As I understand it, the File sharing option in Preferences allows selected folders on your Mac to be shared with others on your local network (e.g. your wireless LAN) - I have used it to transfer files to and from a laptop for example.
