But... I do not use iPhot and it would seem that iweb will only accept photos from that source. Dragging a photo file onto a placeholder or a shape has no effect. Peter has produced a website using iWeb and this is his reply: " I resize my images to around 600px in Lightroom but any programme would do. (I don't know how iWeb handles images if you just size them on the fly so I prefer to keep them small in the first place.). I open Finder and then drag them onto the page in iWeb. I don't use iPhoto anywhere in this process."
