      <xhtml:div xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">When sending emails with a pdf attachment (a scanned letter) the letter opens below my new email message. I would prefer it to go as a pdf icon. How do I achieve this please?<xhtml:br/>

      <xhtml:div xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">I'm not sure this is possible by choice in Mail. If the pdf is above a certain size it will just display as an icon anyway or of course you could create a zip file (right click or CTRL-Click the pdf and choose the archive option) which will always display as an icon.<xhtml:br/>

May I ask why you want it to display at your end as an icon? I ask as that will have no bearing on how it displays at the other end - the recipient controls that.</xhtml:div>

      <xhtml:div xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">Mick I simply prefer to keep my emails as short as possible rather than have a full letter open beneath my message. It's not a significant problem, just personal preference. Choosing the archive option works as does Mark's suggestion of ctrl-click the attachment. Many thanks for both replies.  Roy</xhtml:div>

      <xhtml:div xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">Mark says 'right click' which means that he's got a really posh mouse. I have a bog standard plain one and can get the same result by control clicking the .pdf letter and just click the 'show as icon' option. It takes a short time to do this but it works. Mick Burrell said something similar up above.</xhtml:div>
