      <xhtml:div xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">I think the "proper" way to do it is to use encrypted messages (which Apple explains <xhtml:a href="https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/mail/mlhlp1180/mac" target="blank">here</xhtml:a>) but this requires some set-up.<xhtml:br/>

If it's a one-off, it's easier to put the information into a document and then protect the document. Pages and Numbers do this via the 'Set Password' choice on the File menu. I'm sure other apps can do it too.</xhtml:div>
