Just remember that the bad guys use encrypted services (eg WhatsApp) to plan their deeds and sometimes it's good for the security services to catch them before they blow-up innocent people, not after. Snowden's deeds have directly contributed to lives being lost, perhaps that's a fair price, perhaps not.
