Last time, reconnecting the iPhone on another day all the photos on the iPhone showed in Image Capture. After editing on the iMac I delete photos not required for long term storage on the iPhone or iPad. Then store the 'keepers' on the iMac to keep within the 5GB free storage on iCloud.
