      <xhtml:div xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">A friend of mine has a Mac which has ransom ware on and cannot run his Mac. Can anyone suggest how to get rid of this please</xhtml:div>

      <xhtml:div xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">By "cannot run" do you mean it won't start, it won't respond to his actions or just he can't get rid of the demand in Safari?<xhtml:br/>

He could try starting in Safe mode then run Malware Bytes.</xhtml:div>

      <xhtml:div xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">He has tried starting in safe mode and as far as I understand it gets to the start up screen and locks asking for a password. I am going to have a look at it this afternoon and see what I can find out</xhtml:div>

      <xhtml:div xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">The problem was that some one had put MacKeeper on the Mac and it was giving a warning screen saying to download another program. I managed to get out of it and deleted Mackeeper. Installed Malware Bites and scanned the system and found 5 nasties deleted them, and all seems to be well.</xhtml:div>
