      <xhtml:div xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">Just seen an advert for iantivirus software (Macformat). Has anyone had any problems with this beta version?<xhtml:br/>
Thinking of installing it, should I be waiting for a newer version before I install Beta version?<xhtml:br/>

      <xhtml:div xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">Have you had a look at ClamxAV a shareware virus checker for mac.  See Version tracker.  As many will tell you you do not need virus checking for the Mac yet,  but as a courtesy for your non mac friends, you like to be sure you are not sending anything nasty to them in a forwarded e-mail.  ClamX can be set to scan any folder you like.  I have it set to scan my download folder.</xhtml:div>

I have ClamxAV on my mac G4 and it seems to be running very well. I just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on this iantivirus application as shown in Macformat!!<xhtml:br/>

I notice in the Top features panel it suggests that "... you may want to turn it off when you are backing up your Mac".<xhtml:br/>
This seems to be a problem if Time Machine is set to get on with backups automatically - or is it?<xhtml:br/>

A related question:  If I install some version of Windows can I keep it totally off line and avoid the fear?</xhtml:div>

      <xhtml:div xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">I've had Windows XP installed on my mac for some time now purely to update data on my sat-nav, not one bit of trouble of any kind ,yet.To install Windows XP 32 Gb was separated from the hard-drive, so unless you open it for whatever I guess you shouldn't get any problems, but on reflection why would one want to install never to use it?</xhtml:div>
