<xhtml:div xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">Since upgrading to iOS 9.3.4 a problem has arisen when making a call. It is intermittent and has survived a hard restart of the iPhone. In brief and particularly when calling 121 the screen blacks out. I can bring it back by pressing the Home button, but there is then no response to any other button so that I cannot then terminate the call nor delete messages. I have to switch the iPhone off and then on again to start all over again, but usually the same problem recurs. <xhtml:br/>
It may have nothing to do with the upgrade of course.<xhtml:br/>
I have so far found one other person who has had the same experience, but has no answer to it.</xhtml:div>

I can only venture one outside chance: back up the phone to iTunes (using the encrypted back-up option to preserve your passwords etc), then reset it completely from Settings->General->Reset, then restore the back-up.<xhtml:br/>

If there is a hardware fault lurking in there, you run the risk of losing use of the phone...</xhtml:div>

<xhtml:div xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">Thanks for the suggestion Tony. I did carry out a re-set, and restored successfully, but it has made no difference. I have also updated to 9.3.5 to no avail. However, that update has stopped the phone syncing with iTunes 11.4 on the Snow Leopard partition of my hard drive, so that I have to re-boot into El Capitan to do so!<xhtml:br/>

I now have a Genius Bar appointment in Exeter on Monday, and hope that this may solve the problem</xhtml:div>
