I then re-address it to the new recipient and type the new letter. In previous versions of either the OS or of Pages I could 'Save as' for the new letter but now find that I can only 'Save' which overrides the original. It tracks changes to a document (invisibly) and allows the user to revert to previous states (you can see this behaviour using 'Revert To' lower down the File menu, it's a bit like a local Time Machine). Apple believed that this removed the need for 'Save As' so supplied Duplicate as a replacement. I believe Lionel is using it as Apple intended. However, it broke so many people's workflows that Apple rapidly back-tracked and reinstated 'Save As' (many people use it to freeze a copy of a document at a particular state but continue to work on an "issue 2"). 'Save As' now exists, as standard, as Option-Duplicate in most document based apps (technically, the behaviour is built into NSDocument which is the usual start point for people writing "document-based" apps).
