      <xhtml:div xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">I tried to update my iPhone to the latest ios8 <xhtml:br/>
and i plugged into iTunes and it seemed to be going well, then i received a message saying that it coulnt update because my iPhone was in recovery mode! it told me to reboot my iPhone<xhtml:br/>
I did this and my iPhone told me to plug into iTunes <xhtml:br/>
then the message comes back that my iPhone is in recovery mode! HELP!!</xhtml:div>

did you make a backup (in iTunes) of your iPhone before doing this update? The instruction to refer to iTunes probably refers to such a backup, and see “Option 1” in the web page referenced below. <xhtml:br/>
<xhtml:br/>
If you didn’t, at worst you may have to “reconstruct” your iPhone data from any other resources you may have after resetting it to “Factory settings”.<xhtml:br/>
<xhtml:br/>
Always make sure you are fully backed up especially before a major OS update (iTunes for iOS, clone for OSX) Mostly there will be no problem, but just sometimes…<xhtml:br/>
