I then have to do a "Force Quit" to open PSE 4 which continues to work. I didn't repair permissions but will soon. However I have just found that if I switch off the external LaCie drive then PSE 6 opens! It could be a plug-in which is causing the problem but I haven't upgraded the scanner software & of course I need the scanner plug-in for importing into PSE 6 (or 4). Since switching off the external drive PSE 6 is OK so I think I will continue like this because I don't need the drive on when running PSE 6.
