13 members met for the first time at out new venue of All Fired Up.

Mick gave a Christmas-themed presentation on creating greetings cards from Photos on the Mac. You can choose any photo(s) from your library and turn them into a card using File>Create>Card. A number of formats are available and a card can include a second photo inside to complement the one on the front.

Mick also showed how to achieve more flexible formats than are built in to Photos by adding text to a photo in Preview, then reimporting this to the Photos library.

Photos on the ipad does not include print products from Apple but similar products are available using third-party web sites or apps. Photobox was shown as an example. The Apple cards incur a P&P charge that covers up to 9 cards before increasing; other vendors have similar charges.

Mick then showed how to print address labels from Contacts to save writing on all those envelopes. He created a group containing all his favoured people then showed the Print option Show Details (bottom-left of the Print dialogue). Choosing Mailing Labels allows the sheet layout to be specified (this refers to Avery label sizes but most manufacturers quote Avery-equivalent size names).

Staying with Avery labels, Mick discussed the same task on the iPad. There is an Avery app but, according to Avery, this offers less options than using their web-site service.

We finished with the usual Q&A session after sampling All Fired Up's refreshments (at a discounted rate, no less!).
