Lionel’s presentation described backing up your files using a physical hard drive or using the one of the collection of online services available some are free with a storage limit and a charge is made for more space.

You should have a fast broadband speed to back-up all your files to an online store, the normal home broadband speed is usual quite slow and it may take ages to complete the back-up.

To be aware that offline storage may be kept in another country such a in the U.S.A. or sometimes storage is in the Far East and could be accessed by agencies like the FBI in America or local intelligence organisations in other countries.

Storing your files on a external hard drive and keeping this away from where you are using it such as a with a family member or a friend or even placing it in your car, anywhere will do that you think is secure, of course there are always problems that can arise whatever method you choose.

Lionel’s presentation was very interesting and gives a lot of food for thought it also showed us the importance to making a bak-up of your files and keeping them safe.
